WTA - WTA US Open
Prediction :
Match to have three sets
Revenge has been a major theme in the latter stages of the WTA US Open, and it is impossible to view the final outside that lens. Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, takes on eighth seed Amanda Anisimova in the ultimate match at Flushing Meadows. We have a prediction for the match below.
As the two players meet for the 10th time in their careers, the big question on all minds is: who will be crowned the 2025 US Open champion? Sabalenka has lived up to the billing in reaching all Grand Slam semis this season and advancing in three. Now she needs one last push to go all the way.
It may sound like a bad wish, but Anisimova would have wanted Sabalenka in the final any day. The American has, over time, enjoyed this matchup and leads in the head-to-head records, 6-3. This season she beat Sabalenka to advance to her first-ever Grand Slam final.

Sabalenka comes into this match having had the most rest after her quarter-final opponent, Marketa Vondrousova, withdrew. Despite being the fresher in the semis, she dropped a set for the first time here, as she beat Jessica Pegula.
While she is the best in the world at the moment, going into this game top in the live rank, Sabalenka will have her fears about facing Anisimova. The two have dueled five times at the Grand Slam level, and Sabalenka has only won twice.
She will also be under pressure to win after losing twice in Grand Slam finals this season.
This is the first meeting between these two at the US Open, having met in all other majors.
Anisimova has had her toughest matches against unseeded players, and so she will be more confident here. She needed a decider against Maya Joint and dropped sets against Jaqueline Cristian and Naomi Osaka.
Given her 6-3 lead in this fixture, she’ll have a spring in her step. A source of her inspiration should be the fact that she arrived here with a record of 3-5 at the US Open but is now just a win away from being declared champion.
It is already the best season of her career, having claimed the Doha title and reached two major finals. A first final on home soil might come with pressure, though, and she's also been on the court for two more hours than Sabalenka.
This fixture is almost unraveling as a grudge match between these two players. The most successful of the two, Aryna Sabalenka, trails in head-to-head numbers. She has already taken a massive hit under Amanda Anisimova’s racket this year. She also landed Anisimova a blow of her own at the Grand Slam stage this season.
A grueling encounter awaits, therefore, and we feel this could go the distance. Three times in the last five US Open finals, the matches needed deciders, and the same might happen here. Our prediction for Aryna Sabalenka v Amanda Anisimova is for the match to have three sets.
Amanda Anisimova to win
It isn’t most of the times we experience a shock result in such matches. However, Anisimova has shown she can stand up to the big guns. After her embarrassing loss at Wimbledon, she will definitely want to put on a show in this game.
Much is well packaged in her favor too; playing on home soil, with biased support, and having the head-to-head advantage against Sabalenka. Don’t rule out a stunning result here. Our second prediction for this match is for Anisimova to win.
