World - World Cup
Prediction :
Spain to win
The second set of games take place in Group E of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Spain top the table on goal difference from Turkey who they travel to in this vital match. Can The Red One pick up three valuable away points? Read our match prediction below.
Also in this group are Georgia and Bulgaria, both of whom lost their opening fixtures. The group winners go straight into next year's finals that are being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The runners-up will find themselves in the play-offs.
Spain got their campaign off to a comfortable start with a 3-0 win in Bulgaria and know a victory in Turkey will really see them stamp their authority on the group. That'd particularly be the case with just one more away fixture to be played in the four remaining matches. Turkey also won away in their first group match and know just how important it would be for them to defeat Spain in this match.

With only the group winners automatically qualifying for the finals, this is such an important game, especially for Turkey. A loss at home to Spain would leave them likely to be battling it out for second place and a play-off spot.
The Turks did not pick up any new injuries in the 3-2 away win in Georgia. It's unlikely an unchanged line-up will be fielded against the powerful Spanish side. A key player for them will be Kerem Akturkoglu. He scored twice in their opening group win, making it four for the international team this calendar year.
Arda Guler of Real Madrid is expected to play in the number 10 position. He's already scored twice for Turkey this year and has hit the back of the net once in La Liga this season. Turkey will want to press forward to get a vital home win but it will prove difficult to keep the high-scoring Spaniards at bay.
Yamal is battling to be fit for this game.
Spain has a doubt over the fitness of Lamine Yamal. He had to go off in the second half of their win in Bulgaria due to a back injury. He is not expected to train on Friday and the hope is that the important forward will be fit to take on the Turks.
If that is so then it's likely that just like Turkey they will field an unchanged team for this match. A win would be great for the Spaniards but avoiding defeat has to be their main intention with all but one of their remaining games being played on home soil.
Both of these countries got off to a winning start in their opening World Cup qualifier. Spain had the more comfortable of wins and a second away victory would take them a lot closer towards securing automatic qualification, even at this early stage,
Turkey also won in midweek but had a late scare against Georgia. The pressure is really on them and they certainly can't afford to lose this fixture if they want to top the group.. Our main Turkey v Spain prediction is Spain to win.
